James O’Dea


James O’Dea is on the extended faculty of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) where he was president.  IONS is a leader in the field of mind-body research and the exploration of consciousness. He is the former Washington Office Director of Amnesty International and in that capacity met with many world leaders, including former US Presidents. He was also CEO of the Seva Foundation known for its international health, development and blindness prevention work. James is currently involved in innovative international social healing work building on several years of dialogues funded by the Fetzer Institute.  He lectures widely in numerous countries and has extensive media experience. He has lived in some of the world’s hot spots and witnessed first hand war and human rights abuse. James is known for his warm communication style which mixes poignant story-telling and deep insight. He is a member of The Evolutionary Leaders Group founded by Deepak Chopra. James is author of numerous published essays. His most recent book is Creative Stress: a path for evolving souls living through personal and planetary upheaval. His essay “Creative Atonement in a Time of Peril” will be published by Josey-Bass later this year and will feature prominent leaders in international forgiveness and reconciliation work.
