Atossa Soltani


Atossa is the founder and Executive Director of Amazon Watch. Since, 1991, Ms. Soltani has been leading international campaigns in defense of the World’s tropical rainforest. Her work is currently focused in the Amazon regions of Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and Colombia. Before Amazon Watch, Ms. Soltani directed campaigns at the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) to end industrial logging in endangered ecosystems. Soltani serves on the board of Trustees of the Christensen Fund—a foundation that provides funding to “stewards” of biological and cultural diversity. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE). Ms. Soltani began her environmental career in the late 1980’s as Conservation Director for the City of Santa Monica where she designed and directed award winning resource conservation program. She is fluent in Spanish.
